The presentation

Pulse is Coreod’s short analytical matrix for professionals working under sustained demand, at any level of responsibility. It is designed for moments when a clear picture is needed quickly and without heaviness: a period of heavy workload, a reorganisation, the end of an intense project, the start of a coaching engagement, or the regular monitoring of a team’s climate. It maps the current balance between perceived pressure and the resources being drawn on, and delivers three actionable outcomes: a clear measure of pressure over the past month, a reading of the strategies actually used when difficulty arises, and an evidence-based foundation for dialogue with a team, senior leadership, or a coach.

Pulse integrates two psychometric instruments established in scientific research: the PSS-10 (Cohen, Kamarck & Mermelstein, 1983) for perceived stress over the past month; and the Brief COPE (Carver, 1997) for coping strategies.

Its distinctive value lies in the crossing of the two. These measures are usually read side by side; the Coreod engine treats them as two separate axes, the intensity of pressure on one side and the nature of the strategies engaged on the other, and derives a position among nine. The same level of pressure does not carry the same meaning depending on the strategies that accompany it: it is this combination, not the stress score on its own, that guides action.

Results are interpreted within the participant’s own profile. The Pulse grid thresholds function as internal analytical decision rules. The result is a contextualised map of the present moment: level of pressure, resources engaged, established strengths, and points to watch.

Pulse supports the monitoring of professional functioning and high-quality dialogue at work. Health-related questions call for a dedicated clinical assessment. There is no favourable or unfavourable profile, and no strategy is better than another in the abstract.
