The presentation
Equilibrium is Coreod’s analytical matrix for professionals whose working rhythm puts recovery to the test: roles with a high cognitive load, extended or irregular hours, frequent travel, and prolonged periods of heavy workload. It is designed for moments when fatigue sets in, when pressure lasts longer than expected, or at the start of a coaching engagement focused on sleep, energy, and managing effort. It maps how the pressure of the day and the quality of the night present together, and delivers three actionable outcomes: a clear measure of perceived stress over the past month, a reading of subjective sleep quality and daytime sleepiness, and an evidence-based foundation for dialogue with a coach, senior leadership, or, where needed, a health professional.
Equilibrium integrates four psychometric instruments established in scientific research: the PSS-10 (Cohen, Kamarck & Mermelstein, 1983) for perceived stress over the past month; the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) (Buysse et al., 1989) for subjective sleep quality over the past month; the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) (Johns, 1991) for the propensity to fall asleep during the day; and the Brief COPE (Carver, 1997) for coping strategies.
Its distinctive value lies in synthesis. Sleep and stress are usually assessed in separate settings; the Coreod engine establishes a position among nine by mapping perceived stress against a sleep and alertness axis that combines sleep quality and daytime sleepiness. Coping strategies then shed light on how that position is experienced. The mapping does not point to a cause: it locates, and shows what none of the four measures shows on its own.
Results are interpreted within the participant’s own profile. The Equilibrium grid thresholds function as internal analytical decision rules. The result is a contextualised map of stress, sleep, daytime sleepiness, and coping strategies.
Equilibrium supports prevention at work and high-quality dialogue about workload and recovery. Equilibrium uses the two instruments of Pulse and adds the measurement of sleep and daytime sleepiness.
